Ole! : Open Link Elsewhere
--------------------------
Ole! is a number of IE menu extensions, with which links, or the current page, can be opened in the system/profile default browser, and/or a named browser (menu items for Firefox and Opera and OffByOne are provided)
INSTALLATION
------------
1. Extract the contents of ole.zip :-
InDefault.htm
InDefaultPage.htm
InDefault.reg
UrlRun.exe
InFirefox.htm
InFirefoxPage.htm
InFirefox.reg
InOpera.htm
InOperaPage.htm
InOpera.reg
OLE_readme.txt
... to the c:\windows\web folder
2. Ole! assumes these paths: if yours are different, edit the related .htm and .reg files in Notepad (you'll easily see what to change) :-
c:\windows\web
c:\program files\opera\Opera.exe
c:\program files\firefox\Firefox.exe
3. Copy and/or amend each pair of .htm and .reg files to add/amend for other browsers.
Only the "Open in Default" menu requires UrlRun.exe to exist in c:\windows\web
(UrlRun.exe supplied thanks to, and with permission from, Chris Sells: http://www.sellsbrothers.com/tools/#urlrun )
4. If you're not experienced with Registry manipulation, BACKUP FIRST! See here for detailed instructions for XP (and links to equivalent articles for other OS's) :-
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=322756
5. For Windows 9X, using Notepad, amend the first line of each .reg file from
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
to
REGEDIT4
6. Merge (double-click or right-click/merge) as many of the .reg files required. The filenames describe the contents.
7. Restart IE (or Outlook, OE, etc).
HOW TO USE
----------
Right click a URL (i.e. a hyperlink), or anywhere on the current page, in IE (or parts of Outlook, Outlook Express, and many other programs which use the IE engine) and select either "Open in Default" or "Open Page in Default" (only one of which will appear in the menu).
Or, if you've added them, "Open in Firefox" or "Open Page in Firefox"; or "Open in Opera" or "Open Page in Opera"; "Open in OB1" or "Open Page in OB1".
