1. Using Windows Explorer, locate the first file that you intent to zip.
2. Right click on the file and select “Send To” and “Compressed (zipped) Folder.” This will create a new compressed folder with the same name as the file, except with the extension .zip.
3. Right click any other file you wish to compress and select “Copy.”
4. Right click on the compressed folder you created in step 2 and select “Paste.” The copied file was pasted into the compressed folder. Repeat this until your compressed folder contains all the files you want.

Start The Windows 7 Installation Process

Start The Windows 7 Installation Process

First, restart your computer. When the computer starts the POST (checking for memory, drives,etc.), press and hold down the key combination that your computer requires to boot into the BIOSsetup move. On my particular BIOS is it the DELETE key. On other BIOS systems in might beF1 or F2. Use whatever key combination your system requires. Most of the time, you will see a message on the bottom of the screen in POST that tells you what key(s) to press to enter the BIOS setup.

NOTE: FOR THE FOLLOWING TO WORK, THE BIOS MUST SUPPORT AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGNING THE MASTER/SLAVE DISK DRIVES. IF YOUR DRIVES ARE SET BY PIN TO MASTER AND/OR SLAVE, THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT WORK. YOU MIGHT TRY REMOVING THE PINS, OR CHANGING THE SELECTION SO THAT THE BIOS WILL SELECT THE MASTER/SLAVE BOOT ORDER.

After your computer enters the BIOS setup move look for and select the ADVANCED BIOS SETTINGS, then select HARD DISK BOOT PRIORITY. The screen will display the installed internal Hard Disk drives on your system. You MUST KNOW the disk ID for the Hard Disk that you need to install Windows 7 on. Locate that drive, and select it as the FIRST boot device. The drive that contains your Windows XP installation MUST NOT be the first boot device. After selecting the proper Hard Disk drive to boot to, go to the BOOT ORDER menu, and select the Hard Disk Drive as the first boot device to check, then select the CDROM as the second boot device. Press F10 to close and save the parameters you just entered. The system will now restart.

Place the Windows 7 CD in your CDROM device, and follow the screen prompts to start from a CD/DVD. This will take you into the Windows 7 installer, and you are on your way to installing Windows 7.

CAUTION: THE WINDOWS INSTALLER WILL PROBABLY PICK UP THE OTHER INSTALLED DRIVES ON YOUR SYSTEM! MAKE SURE THAT YOU SELECT THE NEWLY FORMATTED DRIVE TO INSTALL WINDOWS 7 ON, NOT THE DRIVE THAT ALREADY HAS WINDOWS XP INSTALLED ON IT.

Once you have completed the installation process you can use the built in Windows Easy Transfer program to transfer you saved data files from your Windows XP drive. You will have to install all of your programs on the Windows 7 drive because the Windows Easy Transfer program will only transfer data files.

If you desire to switch back and forth between Windows XP and Windows 7, by going into the BIOS setup and selecting the Windows XP drive as the first boot device. Then press F10 to exit and save the settings. The system will then boot into Windows XP. You can change back and forth by using this process.

NOTE: This tutorial is a guide for installing Windows 7 on a system that has at least two internal drives, and you need to install Windows 7 on one drive while leaving Windows XP intact on a different drive. This procedure allows you to install Windows 7 without having to open up your computer and disconnecting the Windows XP internal drive, and avoids conflicts with having two bootable drives installed on the same machine. You will be able to switch between which operating system (Windows XP or Windows 7) at any time without having to physically disconnect one drive..

Steps by Steps how to install Windows 7

Follow the tutorial to run windows advisor for compatibility issues with your system. Then, download the Windows Easy Transfer 7 from Microsoft's website, install it on your XP machine, then run it. It helps is you have space on an additional drive that you are not going to format and use as the Windows 7 drive. For example, a you can use a network connection to transfer files to, another computer, a firewire or USB cable to connect the two together for the transfer, or an external drive or USB Flash drive. The program will not let you store the transfer file to the same computer you are going to install Windows 7 on. You must transfer them using one of the methods listed above.

After you have transferred the files to their temporary location, decide which drive you are going to install Windows 7 on. You MUST know the Disk ID for this procedure. There are several ways you can get the disk ID. Perhaps the easiest way is to start Windows Explorer, click on one of the Hard Disk Drives, then select "Properties". Under the "Properties" tab select the "Hardware" tab. This will display the Hard Disk drives installed on the computer. The disk ID will be a series of numbers and letters that will contain the disk size. For example in my system, I have three internal Hard Disk drives.

Disk drive 1 ID is: WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B1. This is a 1 terabyte drive.
Disk drive 2 ID is: WDC WD2500JB-22REA0. This is a 250 gb drive.
Disk drive 3 ID is: WDC WD2500KS-00MJB0. This is also a 250gb drive.

Determine which drive you will install Windows 7 on, and WRITE DOWN the disk ID. You will need this information for setting the default drive in your system BIOS.

Next, make sure that you don't need any of the files on the drive that you are going to make your Windows 7 drive (move them to another drive if you need to save them), then format the drive that you are going to make your Windows 7 drive. You can do a simple format of the drive in Windows Explorer. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE CORRECT DRIVE SELECTED BEFORE YOU FORMAT IT, or you will lose files you did not want to lose. When you are ready to format the drive, left click on the drive letter you want to format ?it will turn blue when you have selected it ?then right click on that drive and select format. This will prepare the disk for a clean install of Windows 7

In windows explorer I can change the default view, which includes file date, and other attributes. In dialog boxes, such as when I save a file, I always get the "list view." How do I default this so that I _always_ get the "details" view, even in dialog boxes.

The suggestions set the view of your current opened explorer view to detail Then on the Menu Bar, click Tools | Folder Options and then select the View tab. In the Folder Views section, click the Apply to All Folders button....this is not the case,we are talking about the "common dialogs box"..not windows explorer.

LET'S ME EXPLAIN MORE DETAIL

Sometimes computers run slow, programs will not respond and individuals cannot figure out what the problem is. Opening up the task manager allows the user to see all the processes and what percentage of the computer’s memory or processes that they are currently receiving.

Some of these are programs that might be trying to open or even processes that are not known by the user. The task manager will allow a user to stop the processes, with the exception of the critical operating system. These processes are not allowed to be stopped because they would not allow the computer to work effectively and could possibly even cause severe damage, if closed, to the operating system.

Using Task Manager To Detect Problems
The task manager can detail a number of problems to a computers user. From the amount of memory that a particular program or process is drawing to an unresponsive file. By having this information it is easier to determine what type of problem might be causing the computer to not work effectively.

For example, the normal processes of the computer taking up a high percentage of the CPU’s resources might suggest that the computer does not have sufficient memory or there may be something bogging the computer down. Also looking at which processes are running and determining whether or not they are critical can allow a user to delete or remove them from the computer, therefore rectifying the problem.

RSS is an abbreviation that has evolved into the following, depending on their versions:

• RDF Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.9; the first version of RSS)
• Rich Site Summary (also known as RSS 0.91; a prototype)
• Really Simple Syndication (also known as RSS 2.0)

Today, RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication', and it has the following 7 existing formats or versions:

• 0.90
• 0.91
• 0.92
• 0.93
• 0.94
• 1.0
• 2.0

RSS tools refer to a group of file formats that are designed to share headlines and other web content (this may be a summary or simply 1 to 2 lines of the article), links to the full versions of the content (the full article or post), and even file attachments such as multimedia files. All of these data is delivered in the form of an XML file (XML stands for eXtensible Markup Language), which has the following common names:

• RSS feed
• Webfeed
• RSS stream
• RSS channel

They are typically shown on web pages as an orange rectangle that usually has the letters XML or RSS in it.

RSS feeds can be used to deliver any kind of information. Some of these 'feeds' include:

• Blogs feed - each blog entry is summarized as a feed item. This makes blog posts easier to scan, enabling 'visitors' to zoom in on their items of interest.

• Article feed - this alerts readers whenever there are new articles and web contents available.

• Forum feed - this allows users to receive forum posts and latest discussion topics.

• Schedule feed - this allows users (such as schools, clubs, and other organizations) to broadcast events and announce schedule changes or meeting agendas.

• Discounts or Special feed - this is used to enable users (such as retail and online stores) to 'deliver' latest specials and discounted offers.

Four-step Defense Against Spyware and Parasites

Everyone knows about spyware, parasites and other malware. But,what you may NOT know about is a PROVEN, FOUR-STEP Defense that will virtually guarantee that your computer is protected in a practical, simple manner.

The 4 steps are:

Install a good anti-virus program.
Install Spybot Search and Destroy.
Install Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
Keep everything up to date!

Can it really be that simple? YES!!!

How do I know? This is exactly what I have done to clean, disinfect and keep over 300 computers at two different companies keeping them operating parasite-free for the past two years! Here are the details...

Install a good anti-virus program.
If you are running any computer without a good anti-virus program these days you're committing cyber-suicide!
It doesn't really matter which one you use. There is suchstiff competition between companies to keep up every oneis pretty much about the same or at least it will be very quickly. So don't sweat it. Use ANY one you want but just be sure to use one!
(I personally use McAffee, and receive virus-laden emails every couple of days that are automatically deleted.)
Install Spybot Search and Destroy.
I don't generally recommend products, but make the exception in this case because this program REALLY WORKS and is FREE! (I DO encourage you to make a donation!)

Another tip: DO USE the "Tea Timer" continuous protection. It is turned off by default so when you see the prompt to enable it please do! It is much easier to PREVENT a problem, than to try and cure it later.
Install Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
Many people believe that just because they have ONE particular anti-spyware program, that they are covered.
DEFINITELY NOT! Spyware is one case where you absolutely MUST use both a belt and suspenders.
You will find that there are many bits of malware that Spybot S&D catches, but Microsoft doesn't and vice versa.
Also, one product may catch the parasite, but only the other one can successfully remove it.

If you have a LEGAL copy of Windows, the download is FREE! (But be warned that they WILL CHECK your windows, and you must download and install the checking too. No big worries.)
Keep everything up to date!
Last, but certainly not least, you absolutely MUST keep your operating system, anti-virus and anti-spyware products updated.
Microsoft releases patches and updates to all currently supported versions of Windows almost weekly. Use the "Automatic Update" feature to make sure you get them, or check manually at least once a week through Internet Explorer's <Tools><Windows Update"> menu option.
Don't forget about keeping the other products updated also. In previous versions of Spybot Search and Destroy, you needed to do this manually.

Ideally, these four steps should be done just after the system is first set up and before it ever hits the Internet but if this isn't the case, don't be surprised at all the viruses, parasites and malware you may find.

4 steps on Removal and Cleaning

1.If this is the case, my recommended removal and cleansing method is a 'top-down' approach from the simplest and safest method down to the more difficult and dangerous.

2.Check if the application has a menu entry or an "Uninstall" or "Remove" option anywhere. Most legitimate software (but ones that may carry parasites as extra baggage) may be able to be removed (at least partially) this way.

3.Under the Windows Control Panel, select the "Add/Remove Programs" applet -- look for, and "Uninstall" anything that may be related to the malware. Be aware that many "innocentlooking" applications carry spyware, malware and parasites.Remove anything in any way resembling problems exposed through either of the anti-spyware programs.

4.Use the removal features of the anti-virus and anti-spyware applications. I recommend doing this AFTER the previous two steps, because sometimes the applications will be removed more 'cleanly' by reversing their original installation process.

Note: After performing any step, be sure to repeat the scan with the anti-virus and/or anti-spyware program to see if the problem was really fixed. You should continue trying to remove the problem until the scan comes up clean. This may also mean rebooting your computer between removal attempts.
Spybot Search and Destroy will prompt you to reboot and attempt removal during the reboot if it encounters a particularly stubborn bug.

In some cases, no amount of scanning/cleaning/rebooting can remove the malware. In this case, you have two options:
a) Boot the computer into "Safe Mode" and re-attempt the Spybot and Microsoft scan/removal process. (To get your computer to boot into Safe Mode - press <F8> just after restart - and select "Safe Mode" from the boot menu.)
This may allow you to remove applications that are run automatically at start-up, but that protect themselves by preventing the file from being deleted while the bug is running.
b) Boot the computer into Safe Mode, Run "Regedit" or "Regedt32" and try to clean the parasite by searching the registry for strings that the anti-virus programs have found.
Note: I won't provide detailed instructions on registry editing because if you don't know how to do it already you'd probably better not try! It can mess you up .

Price factor. If you are not guided by price factor while choosing the software, you are doing well. One should dig into the description of the program, view the demo version and screenshots, and discuss it with the manufacturer. But, unfortunately, it is sometimes insufficient as well.

Anyone who has ever used their own home computer to demonstrate the Internet to a friend who's never seen it before knows there's one question that occurs more than any other: Why is it so slow?
As the kind person showing your friend the delights of the online experience, it's hard not to feel a little offended. How dare they criticize your setup and the majesty of the Internet? But, of course, there's a lot of truth in the question. The Internet is slow. Actually, it's good to be reminded of this, because the chances are there's a lot that can be done to speed it up. There are three main areas to consider. Hardware, software, and the phone line.

Hardware

Lets begin with your computer. Modern web browsers require lots of system resources. Any recent computer fits the bill, but what if you have to make do with something older? Adding more ram is good, especially if you have less than 256mb. Consider adding a faster hard disk. It won't speed up downloads from the Internet, but avoids windows slowing things down by swapping files from RAM to disk, and your browser should be able to work more quickly.

Don't forget your modem. If you're still using a 56k modem, then perhaps it's time to upgrade to ISDN or ADSL. It needn't cost the earth either. Broadband Internet is becoming so popular that many home users have already upgraded to this option. Most ISP's will throw in a free router as part of the package. If you don't have a network card in your computer to support the router, then perhaps it is time to upgrade that old PC.

You may be thinking that it's OK because you've had a 56k modem for years. But the money you're wasting on dial-up and slow downloads could be considerably higher than if you resorted to broadband internet. Check with your local ISP about broadband packages on special. If you are going to purchase your own router, make sure your operating system and computer will support the new router. Your local computer store will most probably offer you free advice on the best way to setup your router.

Software

If you are going to stick with 56k modems, hardly anyone is happy with their speed, a dissatisfaction which has bred a brand new genre – utilities designed to speed things up. One major subcategory is the accelerator, a program which speeds up your browser in two different ways. First, they replace the browser's cache with their own faster, smarter version. Second, they help make the most of your available bandwidth.

Normally, when you've downloaded a web page, your modem is idle while you read it. Accelerator programs take advantage of this, working through the links on the page, and downloading them while you read. This is known as pre-fetching. When you click on a link, if it's already been fetched, then you see it speedily displayed from your own hard disk instead of having to wait for it to come from the Internet.

This sounds ideal, but there are a few problems. Accelerators can be intrusive, and it's possible for all this background activity to slow you down. It's also hit-and-miss whether the next link you click will be to one of the pages pre-fetched by the accelerator. If it's not, you won't see any benefit at all.

Also, Internet purists argue that accelerators can slow down the Internet for everyone because they increase Internet traffic by fetching pages that might never be viewed. Despite big claims for them of speed increases of 10 times or more, most people are unlikely to see more than 50% improvement at best and tasks such as downloading files will be no faster at all.

Another software category tries to optimize Windows Dial-Up Networking. This is normally done through the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit). The theory behind this is complex, but basically all Internet data sent to and from your computer travels in little chunks called packets. MTU defines the maximum size of each packet and the default MTU setting isn't suitable for modem connections – by changing it, so the theory goes, you can get a big speed increase. Is it true? Some people report improved performance, others report no change at all.

It's important to use the right tools for the job. If you're downloading, use a download manager to speed things up. A good download manager checks for mirror sites to see which is faster, and even switches between sites during the download to get the best performance. You can even schedule downloads for off peak hours.

Phone Line

A major bottleneck in your Internet connection is your telephone line. Standard phone technology just isn't good enough for speedy downloads. Therefore, you should seriously consider the other possibilities, ISDN and ADSL. Logging on is very quick compared to the tedious wait during dial-up. Rental could be high, but check with a few ISP's and you may find it's much cheaper than you imagined. If you need improved speed, the costs may be worth it. Plus, you will have a 24 hours always-on connection.

The faster your modem goes, the more pleasant your Internet experience will be.

You see, "Free Software" it doesn't always refer to software that is free of charge. It actually refers to the software being "Free" as in "Freedom" !

Most people consider their computer to be their best buddy। To be honest, I feel that I can't survive without my computer because I write on it for a living. • Then select the file(s) and folder(s) you wish to recover and choose option 'Recover Selected' from toolbar.
